Workshop


On October 14, 2022, with the participation of representatives of PricewaterhouseCoopers Slovensko, s.r.o. held a workshop focusing on the possibilities of involving the LignoSilva Center of Excellence in projects within the Fund for a just transformation. NLC representatives presented the genesis of building CE LignoSilva.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Slovakia, s.r.o. presented the procedure for preparing the feasibility study and the requirements of the project documentation. Subsequently, an excursion to the premises of the Stráže technology park was prepared for the participants, where the representatives got acquainted with the research infrastructure currently being built, including a line for 3D CT scanning of wood.

The meeting connected with the workshop took place on 17 June 2022, focusing on mobile terrestrial laser scanning, 3D CT scanning wood logs scanning and preparing of the new project Upgrade of the Center of Excellence LignoSilva to the call of Horizon Europe Widera-Teaming. Representatives of the Forestry school see the benefit of 3D scanning of stands and logs in improving the educational process in the field of assortment of the harvest fund, and optimization of wood sorting. Possible joint actions focused on student scientific and professional activities, excursions and internships of students, the establishment of a demonstration object at the School forest enterprise and the integration of the issue into the curriculum of the subject logging were defined.

The meeting connected with the workshop took place on 19 May 2022, focusing on introducing 3D CT scanning technology for wood and preparing a new project Upgrade of the Center of Excellence LignoSilva to the call of Horizon Europe Widera-Teaming. The Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry supports the preparation of the new project as important for regional development. They offered the use of the Chamber's capacities and activities in networking and informing entities operating in the wood production and processing sector about Centre of Excellence LignoSilva technological innovations.

Workshop - 11th Czech-Slovak professional seminar on forest monitoring

CE LignoSilva will take part in the 11th Czech-Slovak expert seminar on monitoring the condition of forests in Hnanice on 12 May 2020 (CZ)

Workshop on the experience from the implementation of the LignoSilva project focused on building research infrastructure and the contribution to forestry research within the research solution of activity 1.1 of the CE LignoSilva project.

 


Event ROSEWOOD 4.0

Event Rosewood 4.0

On April 29, 2022, a CE LignoSilva event was held for the ROSEWOOD 4.0 project, which focuses on creating and supporting digital solutions in the entire value chain of forestry, leading to increasing the resilience of forests.

The project evaluates more than 100 good examples and innovations in the field of forest management or wood supply. The project partners are 21 organizations from 17 European countries.

Workshop for students of TUKE

The National Forestry Center and the Technical University of Košice prepared a workshop for students of the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnologies on the topic "Practice needs in processing data from aerial and satellite Remote Sensing". CE LignoSilva specialists presented procedures for biomass quantification, assessment of forest condition from satellite images and 3D CT scanning of logs.

The center's success in the 1st stage of the Horizon Europe call Teaming for excellence

Centre of Excellence was invited to submit a full proposal for stage 2 of Horizon Europe call Teaming for Excellence. 

The overall objective of the CoE is to upgrade of the existing LignoSilva Center of Excellence (CoE). The essence of upgrade lies in institutional reform aimed at introducing European standards of science management, increasing excellence, expanding research capacities, digital transformation based on the implementation of Forestry 4.0 and Pulp & Paper 4.0 into CoE research innovation activities, support for open science and more efficient knowledge transfer to FBS.
